Quill is making her mark on the music world. Based in Nashville, the alternative rock and grunge artist writes emotionally driven songs that confront self-doubt and survival without dulling the edges. Her work balances cinematic atmosphere with blunt honesty, creating music that feels personal but unguarded. Read below to learn more about Quill, her music, and upcoming projects.
How did you start making music?
I started playing piano when I was four, and poetry really carried me through middle school and high school. Writing became a way to survive my inner world; a place where I could go to feel important. I could tell the truth without having to explain myself. Music grew naturally out of that, and songwriting eventually became the space where sound and language could hold the same emotional weight.
How does living in the South influence your work?
There’s a really strong creative community here. I’m constantly inspired by how many talented artists are making completely different kinds of music while still supporting one another. Being surrounded by that kind of diversity pushes me to stay curious, keep learning, and trust my own voice.

What or who inspires you the most?
I’m inspired by emotional honesty, depth, and storytelling; in music, poetry, nature, and new experiences. I’m drawn to work that allows discomfort to exist without rushing to resolve it, and moments that linger long after they’re over. A few artists that represent this well are Sofia Isella, Billie Eilish, Courtney La Plante. They definitely inspire me.
What’s your favorite show you’ve played (and where was it)?
Playing at The Basement stands out as one of my favorite shows. It felt intimate in a way that allowed the songs to breathe; like the room was actually listening. Those are the kinds of spaces where my music feels most at home. Intimate settings with people that want to understand more, and feel deeper.
You recently released your single “I’m the Victim.” What was the inspiration behind this track? What led you to pick the title?
“I’m the Victim” came from confronting a pattern I had internalized; I spent so much of my life giving all of myself to others, that when I needed help, no one was there. It was the most isolating feeling I’ve ever experienced. I built up so much resentment from constantly neglecting my own needs so that people would like me more. And as a result, I blamed the world for my problems. The song isn’t about blame as much as it is about recognizing the ways I learned to stay quiet, absorb responsibility, or make myself smaller. The title felt uncomfortable, which made it honest.
What feeling do you want people to get from your music?
I want people to feel understood without being instructed. I want them to finally be able to address the emotions they tried to suppress in order to survive. Numb. It’s a horrible feeling. To not know what to do next; or what this feeling is even called. My music isn’t meant to offer answers; it’s meant to create space for listeners to sit with their own emotions and feel less alone in them. Once they do that, they can finally begin to process.
What’s your dream collaboration?
I’d love to collaborate with Billie Eilish, Amy Lee, or Sofia Isella; artists who value atmosphere, emotional depth, and restraint. I’m drawn to collaborators who understand when quiet says more than sound.
Tell us more about your upcoming EP “Diary of a Wannabe.” Any other upcoming projects?
Diary of a Wannabe is a diaristic collection of songs written from the margins; moments of doubt, longing, self-reflection, and quiet defiance. The songs were pulled directly from my own journals, written during some of the darker periods of my life. It feels less like a project and more like letting someone read pages they weren’t meant to see. I wanted to begin my career by addressing what was happening inside me first, before writing outward, because it mattered to me to confront my own patterns honestly.
I’m also preparing to release my next single, Autonomy, which explores boundaries, self-reclamation, and choosing where vulnerability belongs. I can’t wait for you to hear it.
